2008 Board Officers
President and Accreditation Chair: Monica Faulkenberry, APR Monica Faulkenberry, APR, a 29-year veteran of educational public relations, is currently the assistant director of communications for the Northside Independent School District in San Antonio, the fourth largest school district in Texas. She has worked as the director of public information/communications in public and private colleges in Oklahoma and Texas and in the public school systems of Missouri and Texas. She has served on a variety of committees for the Governors of Missouri and Texas including Teacher of the Year, State Reporting Requirements, and the Texas Air Expo. She is a past-president of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA)/Central Texas Chapter and the Missouri School Public Relations Association (MoSPRA), as well as having served on various National School Public Relations Association committees. Currently, she is president of PRSA/San Antonio, and is a mentor/facilitator for the PRSA Online APR study course. She is active in her church, currently serving as a pre-K and kinder Sunday school teacher and on various church committees.

Past President: Fran Stephenson Fran Stephenson is the director of communications at SeaWorld San Antonio, serving as the chief contact for both internal and external communications at the world’s largest marine life park. As well, her duties include community relations, government relations and crisis communications. She currently serves as past president of the board of the PRSA San Antonio chapter. She has also held the position of vice president of programs for PRSA San Antonio. She was a freelance travel writer and producer for 10 years and held various public relations positions at SeaWorld parks from 1985 to 1992. She was part of the team that won the PRSA Silver Anvil for the Grand Opening Campaign for SeaWorld San Antonio in 1989. Stephenson is currently serving a two-year term on the Texas Governor's Tourism Advisory Council.

President Elect: Robert E. Sheldon, APR Robert E. Sheldon, APR, is public relations director of Creative Communications Consultants, Inc., a Minneapolis-based advertising and public relations firm that specializes is industrial, technical and business-to-business marketing communications. His specialties are marketing public relations and national trade media relations. He has been a PRSA member since 1977 and received his APR accreditation in 1979. He was active in the Minnesota PRSA chapter from 1977 to 2001, serving multiple positions on the board of directors, including hospitality chair, treasurer, program chair, accreditation chair, finance chair and chapter president. He was a delegate to the PRSA national assembly in 1983 and 1984. He has a B.A. in journalism from the University of Minnesota and an associate’s degree in electronics from Metropolitan Community and Technical College in Minneapolis. His media background includes stints as a weekly newspaper editor, a staff writer for the Associated Press, a daily newspaper editor, and a travel magazine editor. He was in corporate public relations for a major Midwest cooperative utility, and has been public relations consultant in an agency setting for the past 24 years.

Secretary: Anne Keever Cannon, APR Anne Keever Cannon, APR, has worked in the public relations field since 1976. She began her PR career as a public affairs intern with the Department of the Army and had assignments at Fort Monroe, Va.; Fort Knox, Ky.; the Lexington Bluegrass Army Depot, Ky.; and with the Southwest Texas Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in Dallas, Texas.
During that time Cannon also served as an Air Force Reserve officer. Her last assignment was in the Public Affairs Office at Headquarters Air Force Reserve, Robins AFB, Ga. In the San Antonio area Cannon worked in the public relations/communications divisions of Ultramar Diamond Shamrock, Schreiner College in Kerrville and USAA. She has been the public relations manager of the Fiesta San Antonio Commission since 2003. The commission coordinates all activities relating to Fiesta® San Antonio, a 10-day multicultural festival celebrating the city’s history and diversity each April.
Cannon joined the Public Relations Society of America in 1988 and was accredited in public relations in 1991. She has served on the boards of the PRSA chapters in Dallas and San Antonio.
Cannon is also active in community theatre. She’s on the board of Boerne Community Theatre, where she’s served as president, secretary, public relations board member and newsletter editor. The BCT newsletter received a Best of Texas Award from the Texas Public Relations Association in 2001.
Cannon is married to Douglas Cannon, APR. They have two children.

Treasurer: Clarissa Hack-Rodríguez Clarissa Rodríguez is a graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) with a bachelor’s degree in communication. She is currently employed with Security Service Federal Credit Union as a communications analyst. She previously held the position of senior communications specialist. Rodríguez has worked in the public relations field for nearly nine years.

Vice President of Programs and Gift of Guidance Chair: Tricia Box Trisha Box has recently launched her public relations consulting company, T.Box PR which specializes in public relations, fundraising, promotions and events. Trisha has over 12 years experience in public relations with a concentration on media relations and crisis communications and non-profit event planning.
She served four years at the San Antonio Area Chapter of the American Red Cross as the communications and marketing director and spokesperson for local, state, national and international media. Trisha was deployed to Florida in 2004 after Hurricane Ivan to serve on the public affairs team and was requested to serve on the American Red Cross Rapid Response Team and report prior to Hurricane Katrina landfall. She was stationed in Mt. Herman, La., during the storm were she conducted interviews via phone with national media such as MSNBC and CNN’s Soledad O’Brien.
Trisha is a native of San Antonio and a graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio with a bachelor’s degree in communications with a concentration in public relations and currently serves on the PRSA board of directors as the VP of programs.

Assembly Delegate: David Snowden, APR David Snowden, APR, is the executive director of USAA Public Affairs. Since joining USAA in 1994, David has held positions in Employee Communications, Public Affairs, Member Communications and P&C Communications. He is an honors graduate of Incarnate Word College where he received a bachelor’s degree in communication arts. He has a master’s degree in organizational communications from St. Mary’s University where he graduated with top honors. David is also accredited in public relations by PRSA.

Ethics Officer: Christie L. Goodman, APR Christie L. Goodman, APR, is the communications manager for the Intercultural Development Research Association (IDRA), a non-profit advocacy organization dedicated to creating schools that work for all children. She designs and implements communications strategies and coordinates materials development and various web sites as well as IDRA’s Classnotes Podcast series. Previously, Goodman worked with two non-profit inter-religious organizations on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., where she served as associate editor of a magazine and led media training for staff. In addition, Goodman has provided pro-bono and low-cost PR services to small religious advocacy and community based organizations. Among her awards is the national first-place Bronze Anvil for speechwriting from PRSA. She has served on the PRSA San Antonio board of directors for 12 years, including serving as chapter president in 2003. As accreditation chair, she designed and led the chapter’s PR Insights series of seminars. She was a delegate to the PRSA national assembly for three years. She serves as a board member and communications committee co-chair for the San Antonio Division of the March of Dimes. In 2007, she received the PRSA San Antonio Del Oro Award for Community Service. Goodman has a bachelor’s degree in advertising and minors in sociology and art from Texas Tech University. She is accredited in public relations.
